The frequency for which Encounters are rolled should typically be in the range of every 1/2 hour to every 4 hours, depending on how actively Encounters are being sought / avoided (on both sides).
The probability of an Encounter will typically be in the range of 10% to 1%, depending on how Chaotic / civilized the area being explored is.
The chance of an Encounter being a special Chaos Encounter should be decided before the probability roll is made, and should be a chance less than or equal to that probability, depending how Chaotic the environment is.
E.g. the DM decides that a ChaosWalking party have a 10% chance of an Encounter every 4 hours, with a 2% chance of a Chaos Encounter. So he rolls d100 for every 4 hours, with 91 to 100 resulting in an Encounter, of which 99 or 100 give a Chaos Encounter.
If a non-Chaos Encounter is rolled, use the applicable Encounter Tables for the closest environment in the Real World.
